History

Brown Insurance agency was started in 1963 as a purchase of a small local agency by Dan Brown. His son Carl became an employee in 1975 and an owner in the early 80’s. The Brown family grew the local agency as a trusted and reliable source of insurance to the local community, families, farms, and businesses. Dan and Carl were strong believers that if you service your clients well and do the right thing, the result will be a successful business. Dan retired in 2005 and Carl retired in July of 2020.

Carl and Dan have been approached by many bigger agencies for purchase but felt that keeping the agency in a smaller, more controlled ownership would be better for their clients and employees. In May of 2016 Joe Egli was hired as a potential owner. Joe has 15 years experience working in an independent agency just south of Woodburn in Keizer and approximately 20 years business management as an owner and painting contractor in the Salem/Keizer area. As an added benefit, Joe grew up in Aurora, Oregon so he was already familiar with many of the clients. In January of 2019, Joe was able to purchase the agency from Dan and Carl.

Esperanza Palma

Licensed Personal Lines Agent

My name is Esperanza. I was born and raised in California and moved to Oregon 25 years ago. My husband Jorge and I have been married for 20 years and have 3 wonderful children: Ashley, Enrique, and Yaretzi, and one grandson. I love spending time outdoors and camping with my family. Our favorite camping spot is Jone’s creek.

I entered the insurance world back in 2001 as a customer service representative and got my insurance license in 2006. For 15 years I worked for an independent agency in Tigard then decided to take a break and be a stay-at-home mom to spend more time with my family. At Brown Insurance I am a bilingual agent here and ready to help everyone in our community with their insurance needs.

Madi Egli

Licensed Commercial and Personal Lines Agent

My name is Madison but you can call me Madi. I entered the insurance world at 14 years old answering phones and filing paperwork at another agency in Salem then worked my way more north in 2018. Over my years I have learned many things, and I look forward to continuing to learn every day. At Brown Insurance I work as a personal and commercial lines licensed CSR.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. My partner Trever, our daughter Avery, and our dog Finnegan. Together we go fishing, hunting, hiking, clamming, and of course running around on the beach!

Rico Ramirez

Commercial Lines Agent

Hi, I’m Rico Ramirez. I joined the team in early 2025 and hit the ground running. With 15 years in the insurance industry and experience as a former business owner, I understand what our commercial clients need and value. My positive attitude and commitment to doing things right have made this a great fit.

When I’m not working, I love to cook and hang out with my wife and daughter.

Joe Egli

Principle-Commercial and Personal Lines Agent

My name is Joe Egli. For those who do not know yet, I purchased Brown Insurance Agency from Dan and Carl in 2019. I have been with Brown insurance since spring of 2016 and worked at another agency in Salem for over a decade before that. I am here to assist you with your personal, business, life, and health insurance needs, you just name it!

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Shelly, and three adult kiddos Sydney, Madi, and Noah. I should also mention I am the BBQ KING! Volunteering, supporting my community, and getting out to meet people are all things I value and strive to do. Please call or stop by and say hi, I would love to meet you.

Juana Rodriguez

Receptionist

My name is Juana. I have been a receptionist here at Brown Insurance since May of 2022. Whether it’s taking a payment or making a change to your policy I’m here to help guide the way.

I was born in Silverton and raised in Woodburn. I enjoy traveling and doing adventurous things. Despite my fear of heights, I have been zip-lining, bungee jumping, and skydiving.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family and finding new coffee shops.

Consultant

Hello! I’m Paula. I have been involved with Brown Insurance working in the background in a consulting role with Joe since around the time he purchased the agency. I have 30+ years in the industry which began with my first role in claims when I was in my 20s. I’ve been recently added to the team as a Health and Benefits agent. I have maintained my Property/Casualty license over the years as well as my CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation which has allowed me to nerd out and stay current on all matters related to insurance! I live in Eugene but travel to the office regularly in addition to working remotely.

For fun I ride my bike all over Lane County and do a great deal of hiking in the Cascades with my dog, Kipper. I am a dedicated advocate for Autism awareness and am devoted supporter of rescue and shelter dog organizations. I look forward to meeting you!

Branch Manager / Morale Booster

Finn Joined us as a pup in April of 2025, His energy and excitement reminds us of how fun it is to work with a great crew. You will see Finn walking to the post office each day with his grandpa Joe 😊.

Skip

Complaint Department Manager

Skip joined our team after being adopted from a rescue in 2021. She is a Pitbull and Staffordshire Terrier mix and is the sweetest senior gal around. Her days mostly consist of napping and rolling on her back and her favorite activity is running around on the beach!

Unfortunately in September of 2024 Skip left us.  We were so very fortunate for the time we got to spend with her and helped to make her comfortable and loved during her final years.
